FAQs - Talent

  • Anyone who is aged 4 and above, and based in the UK.

  • I work remotely, and while my office is in Leeds, I cover the whole of the UK (via Spotlight).

  • If your child has decided they want to start acting for screen or stage, it may seem daunting especially when applying for agencies. It is important to contact agencies that have a Child Protection Policy in place, to ensure your child is safe under the care of the agency.

When on set, your child will be supervised by a licenced chaperone (supplied by the production company) or supervised by their own parent. If chaperoned, they will have a DBS certificate and a licence issued by the council.

Your child will require a licence obtained by your local education authority whenever they attend a job. The licence application is completed by the production company with support from myself and you and with the permission of your child’s headteacher if missing any school. A child does not require a licence when attending an audition.

Prime Talent’s Child Protection Policy is available to anyone who asks for it. I will send you a PDF copy to your email address upon request. Prime has a duty of care for all talent on the books. The child protection policy states the terms of care for children.

  • No agency can guarantee you work. If they say they can, it’s not true. Depending on your talent, and your commitment to attending auditions, Prime could get you auditions for (but not limited to) ITV, Netflix, BBC, Disney Plus, Channel 4, Channel 5, CBBC, Amazon, Sky Atlantic (and lots more!) as well as Commercials, Voiceover work and presenting.

  • If I am interested in your application, I will get in touch to arrange a Zoom audition. You will be asked to perform 2 scenes (or monologues) of your choice to showcase your talent. We will then have a chat and answer any questions you may have.

If I have not been in touch within 5 days, that usually means you have not been successful this time.

  • The answer is no. As stated under the “sole agency” section below, having multiple acting agents looks unprofessional to casting directors, as both agents would be putting you forward for the same roles. CD’s do not want to see you submitted more than once by multiple different people.

  • A ‘sole agency’ is an agency that represents solely. This means you can not have two agencies representing you at the same time. This is because both agencies would be putting you forward for the same roles which can cause conflict between the two and can look unprofessional to casting directors. This could affect your future chances with certain casting directors.

Prime Talent is a sole agency for acting.

  • No you are not under a contract with Prime. However, when you secure a job you will receive a contract specific to that job which needs to be viewed and signed by myself and yourself.

  • You are not under a contract, so I can not stop you from looking for your own work. I do ask for full transparency, and to keep me in the loop. If Prime has got you the audition, or has introduced you to the client, the work must come through the agency. If you wish for me to look after the contracts and payments for work you have found yourself, I would take commission for my involvement, but the percentage can be discussed .

  • 20% - film, TV, commercial, online work, zoom recalls

    15% - theatre, short films

    0% - in person recalls

If you find any work for yourself, and wish for me to handle your client, contracts and finances, we can discuss the percentage.

  • It is incredibly unprofessional to cancel on a confirmed job and could affect your chances of future work. As per our terms and conditions (which are sent to you when you register), once you have been confirmed on a job and a contract is in place, you are committed to that job.

Of course, we are all human, and sometimes things can happen that are out of our control. I ask for full transparency and to contact me straight away if this happens.

  • This could be for multiple reasons. For example, a bad headshot can really affect your chances of getting an audition. Or, your self-tapes may not be up to scratch. Or, you need a better showreel.

The best thing to do is get in touch with me if you are concerned about lack of auditions, and I can point you in the direction of photographers and videographers for showreels and headshots.

  • No. But I do ask you to keep me up to date with your calendar/availability to maximise your opportunities for auditions and jobs.

With Prime, you are self employed. I do not pay you a wage so I am not your employer.

You are responsible for your own tax and national insurance.

  • You will need to be registered with Spotlight and Casting Networks. Both of which I can help you set up. You do not need to check these websites regularly as that is my job as your agent.

  • When you secure a job, your fee will be on the contract. Prime asks clients to pay in 30 days or less but depending on the client, this can differ. As soon as the client pays Prime on your behalf, Prime puts the money directly into your bank and sends you a statement to confirm the payment.

  • Yes. It is your full responsibility to get yourself to a face-to-face audition. Turning down an audition can affect your chances of getting future opportunities.

 FAQs - Clients

  • If you can not find what you are looking for on our website, please get in touch with me at rachel@primetalentagency.co.uk and we can discuss your needs.

  • The fee for an actor has many variables. This can include, how many hours the working day is, how much preparation the actor needs to do prior to the job, what they need to do on the day and where you plan on using the footage. All of this can be discussed further.

  • I am happy to work with a budget, within reason. Please get in touch to discuss your budget and project ideas.

  • Whenever a child gets paid for a job, the child needs to be licenced by their local education authority (LEA) to legally be allowed on set to work. I can apply for licences on your behalf. You will also need a ‘Child Protection Policy’ for your company. I am happy to help with both of these documents and can answer any questions you may have.
